VICE PRESIDENT, ASSOCIATION FOR POSTAL COMMERCE

The Association of Postal Commerce (PostCom) is seeking an energetic, dedicated, and dynamic individual to serve on its staff in the role of vice president. PostCom is a national association of businesses and organizations that use or support the use of mail as a medium for business communication and commerce.

The association represents its members on all matters pertaining to the development and implementation of postal policies and operations that affect their use of the mail. PostCom works in its members behalf before the U.S. Congress, the U.S. Postal Service, the Postal Service's Board of Governors, the Postal Regulatory Commission, and all other federal agencies and audiences that affect our nation's postal policies and operations. The association prides itself on serving its members with a small, but highly efficient and organized staff, and has done so for over 60 years.

The vice president’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • representing the association and interacting with senior level Postal Service, government, regulatory, and industry executives;
  • researching/interviewing, developing, and writing articles for weekly publication;
  • writing and developing a variety of communications products as needed, including special focus publications, policy reports, memorandums and member alerts, and membership recruitment communications;
  • maintaining relationships with key individuals and organizations that further the association’s mission and/or strategic initiatives;
  • following developments on policy, strategic, and legislative initiatives and effectively communicate those developments to association members;
  • attending and reporting on industry meetings, legislative and regulatory hearings, trade press briefings, and other gatherings;
  • serving as liaison or association representative on industry task forces, workgroups and other venues;
  • providing guidance, research and support to association member companies on legislative, policy and regulatory issues;
  • assisting with association membership recruitment activities;
  • Some travel and public speaking are required in the job. The vice president also fills in for the association president as needed.

    Applicants must possess strong written, oral, and interpersonal communications skills. They also must possess the knowledge, skills and creativity to work productively with diverse stakeholders on complex issues.

    Time management skills, ability to multi-task, and ability to work to deadlines are highly desirable. Computer proficiency with word processing and e-mail applications required. Previous experience in the postal industry and/or on Capitol Hill, is optimal but not required.
